04/19/2023

With the new jail and Sheriff's Office project now underway, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office will be expanding the number of positions in the jail to meet staffing needs in a larger jail.  "If you are considering a career in law enforcement, now may be the perfect time to take that plunge", says Sheriff Brad DeLay, "we are now hiring new positions and are offering a paid academy and salary while attending the academy, in exchange for a 3 year contract with the Sheriff's Office."

A 700 hour academy, through the Missouri Sheriff's Association, is set to begin June 5, 2023 and will be hosted at the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.  This will be a full time academy and graduates will receive a Class A POST license upon successful completion, allowing them to be commissioned as a peace officer in the State of Missouri.  The deadline for academy applications is May 15.

New positions will be needed in the new jail and several of these positions are being filled now. Other police recruits may attend the academy by applying with the Missouri Sheriff's Association.  Highly motivated individuals interested in a challenging career in law enforcement with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, a paid academy and paid while attending the academy may apply online or obtain an application at the jail or administrative office.  Immediate hiring is desired.  If you have questions, you may contact Lt. Doug Bounous at the Sheriff's Office.
