Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay was honored at an awards luncheon at the Bass Pro White River Convention Center in Springfield on Wednesday September 25, 2019 hosted by the Springfield area Better Business Bureau.

Sheriff DeLay received the "Trust" award from the BBB after being nominated by Gene and Rose Ballay of Aurora.  After receiving the nomination, the finalists were narrowed down to four people and the winner was selected out of those final four.

The Trust Award honors a business or nonprofit leader whose honesty, integrity and transparency impact their community and make it a better place to live and do business. We are proud to celebrate leaders in our community who are positively impacting trust.

"There is probably no greater honor than to be honored as an elected official as being trusted by those you serve.  While I am truly humbled by this honor, this wasn't a result of what I do.  The credit should be given to the men and women who serve with me in this office who do their job every day and are the face of this office.  It is through their actions that we gain and build that trust."  said Sheriff DeLay.

The Springfield area BBB serves 26 counties in the southwest Missouri area.

Also in attendance at the luncheon were Gene and Rose Ballay of Aurora, Lt. Doug Bounous and Lt. Jon Ford.
