A Verona, Mo couple have been charged in connection with the death of a three (3) year old child.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was contacted at approximately 3:00 am on Wednesday July 24, 2019 regarding the death of a child with suspicious circumstances after that child had been taken to a local hospital.

An autopsy was conducted on the child and the determination was made that the child's death was a result of blunt force trauma. 

The results of the autopsy and investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and the Lawrence County Coroner have resulted in the filing of charges by the Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney.

Sarah Garbee, 26 yoa of Verona, the mother of the child and Caleb Williams, 24 yoa and also of Verona who is the boyfriend of Garbee and residing together have each been charged with Abuse of a Child - Neglect Resulting in Death and are currently residing in the Lawrence County Jail under a $100,000.00 bond each.  Both are waiting their first court appearance on Monday.

The investigation is still active and on going at this time.
