Lawrence County Sheriff's Office Releases Results of Click It or Ticket Enforcement

06/05/2017

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office participated in the national Click It or Ticket mobilization conducted May 22 - June 4.  During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of eight (8) traffics including two (2) seat belt tickets; three (3) speeding tickets and three (3) other tickets for hazardous moving violations.  One felony arrest, one drug arrest and three fugitives were apprehended as well.  161 warnings were issued for various other violations as a result of the crackdown.

"Seat belts are your single best defense in a crash," stated Sheriff Brad DeLay.  "Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and Arrive Alive."

Six out of 10 people killed in Missouri traffic crashes are unbuckled.  Missouri's seat belt use has remained relatively unchanged in the last six years.  Missouri has an 81 percent seat belt use, which is well below the national average of 88 percent.  Tees and pick-up truck drivers are among those least likely to buckle up at 70 and 69 percent.
