After being shut down for safety reasons the Lawrence County Jail has reopened today Monday February 1, 2010.  Since early this morning inmates have started being transferred back to the Lawrence County facility.  Many new security measures and upgrades have taken place since the closing making the facility more secure for staff, inmates, and the public.  In later releases, photos of some of the upgrades will be made available.
