The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office received notification that is has received approval on a federal grant from the Department of Justice to purchase new ballistic vests for its deputies. 

This award totals nearly $18,000.00 to help purchase new vests.  The award is the largest award in Missouri for this grant cycle.  The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office applied for a grant to help cover the cost of providing vests for its deputies totaling over $36,000.00.  The BVP grant award provides fifty (50) percent of the cost of the vest and the agency must provide the remaining fifty (50) percent.

The Sheriff's Office will be finding ways to match the remaining portion of the grant in order to provide deputies with the latest and most advance protection available.
