The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office has recently put into service a water rescue boat.  With flooding that has occurred over recent years, the need for a boat that was quickly accessable was needed for Lawrence County.

The last need was during the Christmas rain in 2015 that caused several areas in Lawrence County to flood making them impassible for vehicles.  Several victims had to be rescued throughout the county.

When the Sheriff's Office has had situations in the past, they relied on the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol to provide a boat and personnel.  The Sheriff's Office will continue to use those resources in conjunction with the newly acquired boat.

Sheriff's Office personnel are to be undergoing water training with other agencies to be able to most effectively provide this service to citizens.
