The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a 700 basic law enforcement academy starting August 20, 2015.  The Academy will be held at the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office in Mt. Vernon.

Academy graduates will receive a Missouri Class A Peace Officer License.  The academy meets Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. as well as some Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Graduates will receive several certifications such as Taser, OC Spray, Handgun, Shotgun, Driving, Jail just to name a few.  The Academy is 11 months long.  Those who wish to apply to the academy can to go the Missouri Sheriff's Association website at www.mosheriffs.com to obtain an application.

Deadline to apply is July 31, 2015.
