Suspects in over 30 Mailbox Bashings Located

January 28, 2013 – Two tips help lead Lawrence County Deputies to two juveniles involved in the recent rash of mailbox and metal signs being damaged in Lawrence County.

On January 22, 2013 Lawrence County Deputies began responding to numerous reports of mailboxes and metal signs being damaged. Victim/witness statements indicate the rash of damage began in the late hours of January 21st, or in the early morning hours of January 22nd. Over 30 mailboxes have been reported or found damaged to date. Most of the property damage occurred in the central to northeast sections of the county on the dates shown above. The property loss is estimated to exceed $1,500.00.

Investigations of 8 criminal cases, having 14 identified victims, have been forward to the 39th Circuit Juvenile Office for their review and disposition of those 8 cases.

Investigation continues into others that may be involved.
