Lawrence County Sheriff's Office Cracks Down on Impaired Drivers

12/17/2012

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office participated in the 2012 Holiday DWI Enforcement Campaign conducted December 10- 16.

During the Enforcement effort, officers issued a total of three traffic tickets including: one driving while intoxicated; one safety belt ticket; and one other traffic violation.  Forty five warnings for various other traffic violations were also issued.  One felony arrest was also made as a result of the crackdown.

"When we remove a drunk driver from the roads, we're all safer," stated Sheriff Brad DeLay.  "Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to drive sober."

Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri.  In 2011, 234 people were killed and 945 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver .

Enforcement efforts like this one help to take impaired drivers off the road and make travel in Missouri safer.
