At approximately 0130 hours, 05-12-2010, members of the Aurora Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force, and Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office served a search warrant at 15257 Lawrence 2160, Mt. Vernon, MO.  Several small baggies containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine were seized, along with two baggies of plant material that field tested positive for marijuana, several pipes, a set of electronic scales, one bottle of Heet, Pyrex glassware, tubing, coffee filters that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, other items consistent with the remains of methamphetamine labs, and two firearms.  Two residents of that location have been arrested and charged with crimes.  Charles Edwards (55 years of age) and Jeanetta Phelps (47 years of age) have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia.  Edward's bond was set at $30,000.  Phelps' bond was set at $100,000, cash only.  Phelps' criminal history shows several previous convictions related to controlled substances.

A short time later, the same agencies served a search warrant at 422 E. Prospect, Lot #58, Aurora, MO.  That investigation is continuing.  No arrests were made at that time.
